At 50 years old, Alison Cecelia Bramwell did what many only dream of – she walked away from a life that no longer served her and began again. Leaving behind an unhappy marriage and a successful but unfulfilling career in business, she chose instead to follow the spark that had lived in her since childhood: theatre. With nothing more than determination, courage, and a suitcase of essentials, she moved into university halls as a mature student, ready to finally pursue her passion.

What followed was a remarkable journey of reinvention. Alison embraced her studies in Theatre Arts with fearless energy, proving that age is no barrier to creativity or ambition. She became a leader among her peers, championing mature students, securing international exchange opportunities, and throwing herself into every challenge with enthusiasm. By the time she completed her Master’s in Applied Theatre and Education, she had discovered not only her artistic voice but also the healing potential of theatre itself.

From these experiences grew Therapy Through Theatre Ltd, Alison’s company dedicated to using creativity as a tool for confidence, resilience, and recovery. Whether working with children, communities, or individuals who have experienced trauma, Alison brings humour, energy, and empathy into every workshop and production. Her philosophy is simple but profound: theatre is not just performance, it is a pathway to connection, healing, and joy.

Alison’s productions champion unheard voices and untold stories, turning real lives into powerful theatre. Her work is rooted in collaboration and accessibility, offering opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate. For her, theatre is more than art — it is community, empowerment, and transformation.

Now in her late fifties, Alison describes herself as living proof that “it is never too late to start again.” Her message is one of hope: no matter your age or your past, creativity can open the door to a brighter, freer future.

“Bliss and happiness is achievable,” Alison says. “The impossible is possible – you just need to take the plunge.”

You can book Alison for a wide range of creative and supportive experiences – from professional acting to enriching theatre projects, therapeutic sessions, soothing sound baths, and engaging community interactions. Alison also brings her talents to music, creative play, and working with community groups, as well as offering her skills as a drama facilitator.
